Technical Assistance
ISCE provides a wide range of technical support for the development of research proposals with a focus on the social sciences, including:
Proposal Development
All three members of the ISCE leadership team, Karen Roberto, Yancey Crawford and Isabel Bradburn, and Shalini Misra, the ISCE Administrative Fellow, are available to discuss research ideas, help identify collaborators and provide feedback on conceptual ideas of proposals in development. Other more specific areas of support by person include:
- Yancey Crawford, Associate Director of Faculty Development and Administration
- Proofread and format proposals and manuscripts
- Provide guidance for and review of non-technical supporting documents, such as biosketches, letters of support, collaborators and other affiliation forms, facilities and resources and other supporting documents
- Serve as a liaison with the Office of Sponsored Programs to develop budgets and complete Summit applications
- Upload proposals through funding agency submission platforms such as Cayuse, Research.gov and Grants.gov.
- Search for funding opportunities and past awards
- Coordinate proposal development or grant-writing meetings
- Support other proposal development activities as needed.

- Isabel Bradburn, Associate Director of Strategic and Faculty Initiatives
- Assist with development of individual and complex team proposal writing ventures
- Facilitate the development of collaborations within the university and with external entities
- Assist with development of individual and complex team proposal writing ventures
- Shalini Misra, ISCE Administrative Fellow
- Review draft proposals prior to submission
- Serve as mock reviewer in Red Team reviews
- Conduct workshops and share expertise in team science
External Reviews
ISCE has limited funds available for professional consultation and review of proposals by external experts. Interested researchers should email Karen Roberto briefly detailing their project and justifying the request.
